Shi Shi Beach

We made it! To Shi Shi Beach and back with 3 little boys.  We couldn't have done it without Kyle and Nicole, we're so glad they were willing to come with us! A few pictures from the trip, I'm sure I'll post more later.

Hiking down the trail.  Kyle was the hero carrying extra packs when they got too heavy for the kids. Actually, the kids all did great. Hyrum carried his pack the whole way, Isaac made it at least half way with his pack, and Elliot walked most of the way on his own, which is more than I expected.

This is where Elliot ended up when the trail got too muddy. I had my doubts, but the stroller made it all the way down to the beach.

We made it to the beach in time to set up camp before dark, and roast some hot dogs.

We had a perfect camping spot. We set up the big family tent in the shade of the forest, and through the trees Kyle & Nicole were camped on the beach. The best of both worlds.

Low tide was at 10:00am, so we hiked down the beach to check out the tide pools. More pictures of those to come

Found lots of starfish. 

The most surprising find was a sting ray washed up on the rocks. I think it was after this that Isaac said "Wow, this really WAS worth a two hour hike!"

Hyrum claims this was one of his favorite things we did at the beach - climbing over some huge rocks to look for more tide pools.

 The other favorite thing for Hyrum & Isaac was playing in the waves. They spent most of the day Wednesday getting close to the waves & running when they came up the beach.

Elliot was very content to keep away from the water (yay!) and just play in the sand all day.

The big race. It was close... they're planning a rematch at 40 & 50.

When I asked Elliot today what he liked about camping, the first thing he said was sleeping in his  sleeping bag. (He's actually sleeping in it again right now - in his crib.) He also said he liked playing in the sand, roasting hot dogs, and the rocks that looked like volcanos.

Hiking back to the car. 

 After arguing most of the way over whose turn it was to be in front, they ended the hike together.

And some cup o' soup at the end of the hike (a big treat for these kids).
