He Made it!!!

This Morning at 1:00 am little Baby Isaac (or I-Gus of you're Hyrum) was born. Jen did a great job and had to work a little harder getting Isaac out.
Jen started feeling contractions at about 5:00 pm, and then called me out of a church meeting at 6:45 (something I didn't mind at all...) and then after dropping off Hyrum at the Puloka's and and a quick Arbys run for Dad (Jen's idea not mine..) we made it into the hospital at around 8:30. We were hoping for a quick experience like last time, but Isaac wasn't quite ready, so after enduring three hours of intense contractions Jen got an epidural to make things a little more bearable.

Jen did a great job of pushing, and at 1:00 am he finally came out kicking and wiggling. We were so excited and happy to see him healthy and strong. Here's one of the first pictures of baby Isaac when is face was still squishy and wrinkly.

He did put up a little bit of a fuss when the nurses whisked him away from Mom to work him over.

Here's the big weigh in. More of a feather weight contender, but we're happy he's healthy. Hyrum was 5lb 14oz, but gained weight quickly. Isaac appears to be following his big brothers example, by immediately latching on to Jen and seems to like what mom has to offer.

Holding hands with Dad

Here's Dad again inspecting the new boy.

Both Mom and baby getting some rest.

One thing that we have been concerned with was how Hyrum was going to handle all of this. His world as well as ours is going to be dramatically altered with this new addition. Through out the pregnancy Hyrum has loved talking about "baby i-gus" but as the time has drawn near we've gotten the impression he might not be too excited about the competition. (He has been making it very clear what toys and things "Are Hyrums") I was a little nervous about this first encounter. The drive up to the hospital was not encouraging. But as soon as Hyrum saw Isaac he hopped up on the bed with a huge grin, and was excited to see the new baby.

"Remember to touch baby Isaac softly..."

While he was enthralled with Isaac like a two year old he was quickly distracted when he discovered that Mom has juice!

Back to the baby!!

The baby had to hold puppy of course.

He was very excited to hold the new baby

At this point Jen got nervous and made me put the camera down.

We're glad that Hyrum is excited that baby I-Gus has arrived.

So are we...

The next best thing about having another beautiful grandchild, is getting to have such amazing pictures the very day little Isaac is born!

Congratulations! How's Hyrum doing at his new role as big bro now? Hopefully things are going smoothly. We survived the transition from one child to two, so will you and Hyrum. Now we're looking forward to baby #3 in August.

Oh, what a little cutie! I was telling Clark and Parker they have a new cousin, but they just couldn't grasp that there's a baby out there not named Tingen. Hyrum's going to be a good big brother, too. I love seeing his excitement (and distraction) in pictures. Congratulations!
