Yes we finally caught something this year!!!
So this our third year at the Derby and (aside from the kiddie fish pen) is the first year we really had success!!!
Every year our town stocks the local lake with a bunch of trout. They allow camping in the park and start the Derby at midnight. We're not part of the midnight crew yet, but the last three years we have camped out and tried our luck in the morning. Last year we even had our raft out on the water but it was to no avail.
I'm not sure what we did different (we did have a canoe this time) but our results were much better this year, 13 fish in a couple of hours. The boys caught most of the fish. I was too busy trying not to run into all the other boats and avoid tangled lines. We also had a pretty good downpour while we were out there but the boys loved it, and we all had a lot of fun! The first picture was just after landing two fish at the same time. (Reminding of Yellowstone days)
Elliot and Jen met us in the morning for breakfast and Elliot tried his luck at the fishing pen.
